Hello everyone, my name is Emily Rangel, and I am a student at California State University Monterey Bay CSUMB. I am currently going into my senior year and working as an NPC intern through my field training program in Collaborative Human and Health Services.

This week’s blog piece will focus on the holidays approaching! This time of year welcomes and invites giving back to communities by participating in food drives, toy drives, and even adding in time for volunteer work. During the holidays, the community tends to get more involved to help give back to their community. To start, I want to thank nonprofits and organizations that give back to their communities all year round.  While nonprofits do this kind of work throughout the year, it’s always pleasant to see the contribution of individuals during the holidays. While I’m sure, many of your organizations already have plans to contribute to this holiday season, here is another chance to give back to the community while supporting a local organization. Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County is organizing food drives for organizations and schools! Use this link if you would like to arrange a food drive at your organization HERE.

Additionally, Second Harvest Food Bank offers flyers, posters, and barrels to collect donations! LEARN MORE HERE This is a great way to get staff involved and even have some friendly competition to raise food and donations for a great cause and organization. Let us continue to come together as a community and ensure everyone has access to healthy meals this holiday season. Watch the video below on how to get involved.
