Emily RangelHello Everyone! My name is Emily Rangel. I am a past NPC intern and now a NPC board member.

Today we will be celebrating the 10th Year Anniversary of Teen Kitchen Project (TKP)  and the amazing work they have done for the community.

Teen Kitchen Project has expanded over the last 10 years to meet the needs of the community. Starting in 2012, TKP prepared 1 meal a week and gradually expanded to 3 cooking days in 2015. They have also added cooking classes, catering, and summer camps throughout the years. Furthermore, during the pandemic, TKP adapted and provided food delivery to those at high risk so they may remain nourished in the safety of their home. Learn more about the great work done over the past ten years at TKP HERE!

I was given an opportunity to interview one of TKP volunteers, Karen Jackson, who shared some insight as a “delivery angel”. Volunteering has always been her way of being involved in the community. Karen found out about TKP through word of mouth and after the initial COVID lockdown, she thought TKP would be a great way back into the community while at the same time assisting others. She shares her experience as a delivery angel.

“I was originally drawn to TKP to volunteer to deliver meals to clients who were in need. The clients, young & old, are kind & so very grateful to receive the nutritious meals that I deliver weekly. Little did I know that the big bonus would be how much joy & fulfillment I would get from interacting with each one of these wonderful people. Besides the meals, I always offer a kind word & a smile. That certainly goes a long way.” ~ Karen Jackson, Teen Kitchen Delivery Angel

Teens and adults are able to apply and volunteer for various roles at TKP – to be a volunteer HERE! Another great way to contribute is through donations – Donate HERE to keep TKP serving our community for many more years to come! Gather more TKP information HERE!
