Hello everyone! My name is Elsa Tamayo, Member Services Representative for Nonprofit Connection. For this member spotlight, I want to highlight the incredible work of Siena House and the impact they continue to make for mothers and babies in Santa Cruz County.
For more than 25 years, Siena House has been a steady source of support, healing, and hope for new mothers experiencing homelessness or difficult life transitions. Their work is grounded in a simple but powerful belief. Every mother deserves a safe and nurturing place to welcome her child, and every baby deserves the best start possible. This belief is reflected in their mission to give new mothers a solid foundation as parents and to support infants during their most critical first year of development.
Siena House provides an environment centered on health, stability, and care, creating a home where mothers can focus on their well-being while preparing for the future. Participants have access to resources and programs that help them build confidence, develop essential life skills, and work toward long-term independence. Staff and volunteers walk alongside each mother with compassion and guidance, helping them set goals, connect with community services, and strengthen their foundation as new families.
Their vision shows a deep commitment to dignity and equity. Siena House envisions a world where every woman and child lives in a safe and supportive home, and every day they work toward making that vision a reality. The impact of their work reaches far beyond their home. When mothers receive the tools and support they need to thrive, it creates ripples of positive change that continue for years. Children begin their early lives surrounded by care and stability. Mothers move forward with renewed confidence. Families grow stronger, and in turn, the entire community becomes more supportive and compassionate.
This December, Siena House will be hosting their annual Holiday Market, a warm and festive community event featuring local artisans, handmade gifts, and seasonal treats. It is more than a shopping experience. It is a chance to support mothers and babies in a meaningful way, since every purchase directly supports Siena House programs and helps families receive essential care during a crucial time in their lives.
Nonprofit Connection Santa Cruz County is proud to spotlight Siena House as a valued member whose work reflects deep compassion, dedication, and commitment to families across our region. If you would like to support their mission, consider donating or visiting their Holiday Market to contribute directly to the care of local mothers and babies.
