REDI: Board Governance & Cultural Humility Workshop

On Zoom
Board Governance & Cultural Humility The Role of Cultural Humility in Fostering Long-Term Success for Nonprofit Organizations Thursday, May 30, from 1 PM to 2:30 PM (Virtual) This session will explore how cultural humility is crucial for board governance in the longevity of a nonprofit’s success by exploring the difference between cultural competency and cultural humility and sharing how nonprofit boards can navigate cultural dynamics through empathy. We will also discuss cultural arrogance, centering voices, representation — do we have representation just for representation’s sake? — and application for cultural humility for long-term success. Objectives Clarify the distinction between cultural competency and cultural humility. Identify whose voices are being centered and whose voices may be excluded in board discussions and decision-making. Encourage participants to apply cultural humility principles within their board roles for more impactful and sustainable governance. This is targeted to current nonprofit board members, potential board members, and Executive Directors. We encourage you to bring your whole board to this training and are providing a special group discount rate. Details in pricing section below. This training is a part of the Nonprofit REDI Hub – a joint effort between SVCN and Thrive Alliance to integrate Racial Equity, Diversity and Inclusion into the nonprofit community in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
