About the Author:
Frank Perry was born and raised in Santa Cruz and has been interested in the region’s natural features and cultural history since childhood. After earning a degree in Earth Sciences from U.C. Santa Cruz, he worked for many years researching, designing, and building natural sciences and historical exhibits for museums and park visitor centers. He has been involved with the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History for many years and in 2017 received the Laura Hecox Naturalist Award. In 2021 he retired after serving for eight years as curator of the Capitola Historical Museum. For this book, he has drawn upon his fifty-year journey exploring Monterey Bay area geology, paleontology, and history. The author hopes readers will enjoy reading about these topics as much as he has enjoyed learning about them and sharing his discoveries.
