From Nicole Young & Nicole Lezin:

We’re sharing a couple updates about the CORE Investments Request for Proposals (RFP) process, since many of you participated in the CORE meeting with community partners on August 4 and/or the meeting with community partners and funders on August 12 . The slides and notes from both of those meetings can be viewed in this Google folder.

The Human Services Department will be conducting a study session on the CORE Investments stakeholder engagement process and Request for Proposals framework recommendations at the Board of Supervisors meeting the morning of Tuesday, September 28 – sometime after 9:30. There are a few agenda items ahead of this one, including a legislative update from Senator Laird and a public hearing on the Year 2022 Growth Goal. The Board memo and related attachments can be viewed at http://santacruzcountyca.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_LegiFile.aspx?Frame=&MeetingID=1881&MediaPosition=&ID=11168&CssClass=.

Staff for the City of Santa Cruz will also present on the CORE Investments stakeholder engagement process and RFP framework recommendations to the City Council the afternoon of Tuesday, September 28. This agenda item (#15) is anticipated to be heard around 3:30 – although that might also change, depending on how long other agenda items take. You can view the agenda, Council memo and attachments here: https://ecm.cityofsantacruz.com/OnBaseAgendaOnline/Meetings/ViewMeeting?id=1772&doctype=1

We’re encouraging interested community partners, CORE Steering Committee members, and other funders to review the Board and Council memos/attachments, attend one or both presentations (Board meeting will be hybrid, City Council meeting will be virtual only), and if anyone feels inclined, to speak about the engagement process and/or RFP framework recommendations when the public is invited to comment on the CORE agenda item. This is considered another opportunity for stakeholder engagement and input that will inform the development of the next CORE Investments request for proposals.

Thank you again to everyone who attended one or both meetings in August – the input and suggestions provided were invaluable to HSD and City staff as they prepared the recommendations.
