Over this past week, this article, “Justice is Healing” by Josephine Hulburd Schultz of Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits was brought to my attention by my mentor. Just like many others, I have been watching the news waiting for the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin. While this has been the verdict we have all been long awaiting, this single verdict does not rule out all prior, current, and future cases. As mentioned in the article, on April 20th 2o21 Ma’khai Bryant was shot and killed by a Columbus police officer. How is a community expected to heal when the community is continuously under attack from the very people who swear to protect and serve? Author Hulburd Schultz’ article, “Justice is Healing” covers her thoughts and expressions.  She also does an amazing job at explaining what a community needs in order to heal.
