Treasurer (Volunteer Position)

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to volunteer as the Treasurer of Blue Circle. As the Treasurer, you will be responsible for managing the organization’s financial affairs, including preparing and reviewing financial reports, budgeting, and overseeing the management of financial resources.

Blue Circle is a non-profit organization that works to promote economic justice and reduce income inequality by offering certification to businesses that meet our standards for fair and sustainable wages. By supporting businesses that pay a living wage, Blue Circle aims to create a more equitable and sustainable economy for all.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and statement of financial position
• Develop and manage the organization’s budget, including forecasting and monitoring financial performance
• Monitor cash flow and investments, and make recommendations for improvement
• Coordinate with the organization’s accounting team to ensure accurate financial record keeping and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
• Participate in financial decision making and provide financial guidance to the organization’s leadership team
• Attend and actively participate in board meetings and committee meetings as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit organization
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in financial software and Google Workspace
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting standards
