No matter who we are, we all face periods of change and transition: divorce, a new job, marriage, the birth of a child, the empty nest, moving, aging, among so many others. Sometimes we get stuck in the “in-between’, knowing we need to move ahead but hanging on to what is behind us. This space between where we are and where we want to be can be filled with mixed feelings: anxiety, joy, fear, dread, hope, anticipation. Sometimes we want to move on to that next life chapter and, well, sometimes we just DON’T. Even the “good’ transitions can bring some level of hesitation and grief because, when we look forward to a new journey, we often have to say goodbye to what we’ve left behind.
Richard Rohr calls this the “Liminal Space,” a place of hiatus where we have left one room but have not fully entered the next. It’s a space in time where we may be afraid and not yet certain that something genuinely new can happen. However, if we allow it, this period may be one of the most clarifying and transforming times of our lives!
Join us for a dynamic workshop where we will explore how to move from “here to there”. drawing our inspiration from the Redwood Forest. We’ll discuss how to get unstuck, how to grow through transition, how to let go, and how to move confidently ahead with an intentional plan.
Our time together will include some very light hiking as we transition to and from lovely spaces throughout the park. Please dress in layers and bring water. All participants will receive a “care package” including a workbook. A light snack will be provided.
Class size is limited to 12 participants, advance registration required. Meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Visitor Information Center at Big Basin. Those who register will receive more detailed directions and information via email.
