Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony FALL CONCERT

The Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony, under the direction of guest conductor John Thomas, presents its Fall Concert on Sunday, November 19. Featuring 16-year-old trombonist Antonio Plaza, winner of our Concerto Competition, performing the beautiful Andante Cantabile from Rimksky-Korsakov’s Trombone Concerto, plus the World Premiere of The Middle of Nowhere, by 17-year-old composer Benjamin Goodwin, inspired by stories of his grandparents’ farm in Alabama.

Program will feature compositions by:

  • Aaron Copland: Variations on a Shaker Melody
  • Benjamin Goodwin: The Middle of Nowhere
  • Jennifer Jolley: Motordom
  • Maurice Ravel: Pavane for a Dead Princess
  • Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov: Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra, 2nd movement
  • John Williams: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
