This year’s State of the Region event will feature a diverse range of topics aimed at driving regional economic recovery and development. We will explore strategies for ensuring good jobs, housing for all, reducing the digital divide, and examining the impact of local, state, and federal policies and legislation on our region. The event promises to be an informative and engaging experience for all attendees.Our 2024 Annual State of the Region event will take place in person on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CSUMB University Center.   • Cynthia Larive, Chancellor of the University of California, Santa Cruz – An academic leader with a passion for innovation in higher education, Chancellor Larive will provide insights on how universities are shaping workforce development and addressing regional challenges.
  • Sen. John Laird – As a champion for environmental sustainability, education, and housing, Sen. Laird will discuss state legislative efforts and their impact on our region’s economic development.
  • Rosa Vivian Fernández, President and CEO of San Benito Health Foundation – A dedicated healthcare leader, Ms. Fernández will offer perspectives on healthcare equity, access, and the importance of addressing the social determinants of health in regional development.
  • Steven Packer, MD, President and CEO of Montage Health – Dr. Packer will share his vision for the future of healthcare delivery and its impact on regional development.
