Let’s play and dance during golden light hour and sunset! Meet new friends, enjoy the beautiful view, and celebrate queer community. Let’s make memories together as we dance, play, and bask in the golden hues of a sunset sky. The “Silent Disco” headphones are provided. Plus — dress up in 80’s style fashion!
This event invites you to connect with LGBTQ+ community and friends in a welcoming and inclusive environment. We’ll warm up with a 10-minute movement sequence to help us connect with the land and bring awareness to our body and breath. After that, we will play some games to cultivate laughter and group connection. The dance party will be just under an hour. The playlist will be collectively created— all participants are encouraged to send me one or two songs— 3 days before the dance party— and I’ll arrange our playlist from that.
80’s Style: The fashion and style of the 1980’s can be described as bold, vibrant, and eclectic. It was characterized by exaggerated silhouettes, neon colors, shoulder pads, leg warmers, double denim and an abundance of accessories. Style trends included ’80s glam, punk rock, preppy, new wave, athletic, skater and hip-hop styles.
You may be able to reflect an 80’s style from your own wardrobe by picking big clothes, bright or bold colors, big earrings and big hair, or by reflecting one of the other style trends. (Or search eBay or thrift stores, if you’re inspired.) Let’s have fun dressing up!
Where to meet: Park at the “Parking and Trailhead to Seascape Beach” (on google maps, see photo). This is free parking with beach access at Seascape Resort, 1 Seascape Resort Dr, Aptos, CA 95003. The Parking and Trailhead is just past the main entrance. The path takes you down to the beach and is a 10 minute walk. When you arrive at the beach, we will be a little to the left when facing the ocean (south), just a minute or two walk, near the shore. This is a big, beautiful beach, spacious and uncrowded.

About the playlist:
We arrange the playlist using YouTube Music, so when you RSVP please include one or two YouTube links for songs for the dance party. Everyone will have one song included in the playlist. The second song depends on how much time is remaining and what works best in terms of flow. Our playlist will be 55 – 60 minutes. Please RSVP for this event and send us your songs by Wednesday, July 24th.
Caroline Nicola is a visual artist, sound practitioner and massage therapist living in Santa Cruz, California.
