THE LION IN WINTER
By James Goldman
Directed by Susan Myer Silton
A family feud of imperial proportions. “Well – what shall we hang? The holly or each other?” Set during Christmas 1183, The Lion in Winter tells the wickedly amusing tale of King Henry II, his imprisoned queen (released only for the holiday), and their three entitled sons who vie for the throne in a double-dealing free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. Best known for the film adaptation starring Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn, this viciously funny drama is a high-stakes chess game where the pieces constantly change sides and no one is spared the sword.
Due to popular demand, we’ve changed the curtain time for all evening performances this season to 7:30 PM and added Saturday matinees to every weekend of performances.
