CORE Coffee Chat: Transformational Approaches to Creating Economic Equity

February 6 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
Virtual Via Zoom Free

Across our region, Latino working class families are essential contributors to the Central Coast’s economy, yet inequities in economic well-being and generational wealth still exist. While ending poverty may seem like an impossible dream, the team at Ventures believes it doesn’t have to be that way. Through a collection of innovative and effective programs, Ventures is working in partnership with rural Latino working class families and other agencies to create a compassionate and equitable local economy, where zip code, race, gender, and immigration status do not dictate income or wealth.

Join us for a CORE Coffee Chat on Transformational Approaches to Creating Economic Equity, featuring presentations and discussions with the Ventures team.

In this Coffee Chat, we will:

  • Hear about Ventures’ approach to creating equitable economies by helping individuals understand and use their economic and political power, while also transforming the systems that have historically excluded the Latino community from financial well-being.

  • Learn about Semillitas, an education savings program for children born in Santa Cruz County; and Alas, a guaranteed income initiative implemented across Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties.

  • Share ideas and insights about the transformational shifts in mindsets, approaches, and systems that are needed in order to create economic equity.

Come learn with us about how programs nested in one CORE Condition connect to so many others, while building equity across families, neighborhoods, and systems.
