Hello, my name is Elsa Tamayo, a current intern for Nonprofit Connection Santa Cruz County and student at California State University, Monterey Bay. In October 2024, I attended the Master Plan of Aging Solutions Summit, where leaders and community members came together to discuss critical issues facing older adults in California.
Inspired by this summit and my commitment to addressing aging-related challenges in our region, I created a digital pamphlet that highlights key concerns for older adults in Santa Cruz County, including affordability, healthcare access, housing, caregiving, and inclusion.
This accompanying report expands on those topics with deeper insights from the summit and offers practical, community-based solutions that reflect the needs of our local senior population. All data cited is sourced from the Santa Cruz County Health Department, ensuring a local lens on statewide strategies.
Key topics include:
- Affording Aging: Financial literacy, basic income programs, senior tax credits, and retirement savings.
- Caregiving That Works: Support for caregivers, respite care, and digital tools for caregiving.
