One of our founding Members, Community Bridges‘ stated mission is to “deliver essential services, provide equitable access to resources, and advocate for health and dignity across every stage of life”.
These two pictures tell the stories of joy at any age for the people they serve.
“Since 1977, Community Bridges (CB) has been a catalyst for a brighter future by delivering fundamental resources for the people of Santa Cruz County. Our family of ten vital programs across 20 different sites serves thousands of local children, families, and seniors each year.”
Under the leadership of CEO Ray Cancino, CB provides programs that “give community members access to transportation, healthy food, health care, and senior adult day health care. We offer crises support, case management services, early education, grade school tutoring, as well as classes in breastfeeding, nutrition, parenting, and literacy. Most of these and other services we offer, are available at no cost.”
CB has been on the front lines for the twin disasters of COVID and the devastating CZU Lightning Fires. Through their Mountain Resource Center in Felton, CB provided Fire Relief during the Recovery with direct financial assistance, grocery and Visa gift cards, and a mobile laundry service that rotated locations in the Santa Cruz mountains each week.
Their Senior Services have been a lifeline, providing food through Meals on Wheels, Lift Line transportation, Elderday Adult Day Health Care, and the Senior Center Without Limits of activities to connect seniors to their community, improve cognitive processes, and combat isolation.
They’ve expanded their services to help seniors get vaccinated.
These are just two examples of their resources for thousands of local children, families, and seniors across the County, each year. Learn more – and consider donating – at https://communitybridges.org/
