Hello everyone, this is Elsa Tamayo, current intern for Nonprofit Connection and CSUMB student. I’m excited to introduce Sarah Beck, the new Executive Director for Friends of the Santa Cruz Public Libraries!
With a diverse and inspiring background in nonprofit leadership, Sarah brings a wealth of experience and passion for public service to this important role. From her work with public gardens and museums to her involvement in new media—each of these fields has played a role in shaping her dedication to supporting libraries as powerful community hubs.
In Sarah’s own words, “What drives me is the fundamental idea that everyone deserves access to knowledge, ideas, culture, and shared experiences. It’s this belief that fuels my commitment to the Santa Cruz Public Libraries, and I am so thrilled to be here.”
As Sarah steps into this new leadership role, she is eager to celebrate the collective achievements of the organization and the community. A highlight of her excitement is the “Boundless Minds” initiative, a feature story that showcases the incredible impact of a program made possible by the generosity and dedication of local supporters.
Looking ahead, Sarah’s vision for the Friends of Santa Cruz Public Libraries emphasizes inclusivity and community engagement. She says, “We believe that Everyone Can Be a Friend, and we’re committed to creating pathways for all members of our community to get involved, whether by volunteering, donating, or simply sharing their time and ideas.”
Sarah deeply values the contributions of all those who make the Santa Cruz Public Libraries a vital resource for everyone in the area. Her message to the community is clear: “Your participation and support are truly appreciated, and together we can continue to foster the growth of our libraries and the positive impact they have on our lives.”
We look forward to all that Sarah Beck will accomplish in this new chapter for the Friends of Santa Cruz Public Libraries and are excited to see how her leadership will further strengthen the community’s bond with these cherished institutions.
