My name is Yesenia Zavala. I am a proud graduate of CSUMB’s Collaborativve Health and Human Services program and a former intern at Nonprofit Connection Santa Cruz County. In this blog post, I am excited to share insights about a for-profit program, Monarch Independent Living Services (Monarch ILS) that provides essential resources and guidance to those with disabilities, creating a community where everyone can thrive. It is simliar to Heart of the Valley ILS, which I operate in King City. This was part of my informtion gathering for my Capstone project on whether to take steps to make my for-profit business a nonprofit.
At Monarch ILS, the focus is on empowering individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Through a range of services and programs, such as advocacy, skill-building workshops, and peer support groups, Monarch ILS assists individuals in gaining the confidence they need to navigate life’s challenges and pursue their goals with determination.
Monarch ILS is committed to assist those receiving services to become independent through personalized support depending on their need. Whether it’s assistance with finding accessible housing, navigating the healthcare system, or securing employment opportunities, the dedicated team at Monarch ILS ensures that each individual receives the tailored support they need to live life on their own terms.
Monarch ILS serves as a hub for community connection and collaboration in Santa Cruz and Watsonville. By facilitating networking events, social activities, and community outings, Monarch ILS creates opportunities for individuals to build meaningful relationships, share experiences, and celebrate achievements together. This sense of belonging and camaraderie is essential in fostering a supportive and inclusive community where everyone is valued and respected.
In conclusion, Monarch ILS instills hope in those individuals they serve. Through their commitment, empowerment, independence, and community, Monarch ILS is not just an organization—it’s a lifeline for those seeking to overcome barriers, and live life to the fullest.
Like some for-profit, they also have a nonprofit, Wings of Success, Inc established in 2015 by the Directors of Monarch Independent Living Services. The purpose of Wings of Success is to assist low-income people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Forming a related nonprofit may be the best way to take advantage of the what each type of organization has to offer.
