Fostering Health & Equity - Promoviendo Salud y Equidad

The Carey-Davis Community Garden was founded by the Watsonville Police Activities League (WPAL) to serve the youth and families living in the Carey and Davis Avenue areas. Program Manager, Teresa Martinez-Rodriguez oversees the garden to ensure the garden continues to grow and thrive for that community. The goal is to increase access to fresh food and vegetables and foster community relationships.

Granite Construction has generously donated gravel to distribute throughout the pathways of the garden to ensure that it is thriving. We are in need of volunteers that can lift 50lbs or more as we will be moving gravel from the parking lot to the garden in wheel barrels and buckets to distribute throughout the garden. This will be hard labor and extended hours on a Saturday and Sunday but a great opportunity to give back to the community and get to know the Carey-Davis Community Garden.

Tentative dates are Saturday, May 14th & Sunday, May 15th or Saturday, May 21st & Sunday, May 22nd from 8:30am – 4:00pm. Once the gravel gets delivered we will finalize the date but wanted to provide a timeframe for people’s availability.
