Are you interested in learning the basics of grant processes? Are you starting a nonprofit and don’t know where to start finding and applying for grants? Are you a non-development staff person with development responsibilities and need to grow your grants skill-set? Then this introductory session is for you!

Join this workshop to get an overview and foundational knowledge about the grant application process. Michelle Lieberman will share more about the major types of grants and funders, how to look for funders, and assess whether you should apply. You will also learn the basics of writing proposals and building funder relationships.

Speaker: Michelle Lieberman Principal Consultant, Genie Grants

Michelle Lieberman is a fundraising consultant specializing in grant proposals and reports. She founded the consulting company Genie Grants in 2009, after serving as the Executive Director of Oakland Based Urban Gardens. Since then, Michelle has worked with dozens of nonprofits in a wide array of sectors, helping them raise and sustain the funding needed to advance their missions. She attributes much of her success to good listening and storytelling skills, as well as clear, concise writing. Michelle is honored to use her skills and talents to benefit the many innovative and impactful organizations throughout California. She lives with her husband and 6-year-old son in Morgan Hill, California, where she also runs a small, organic farm providing fresh vegetables to the local community.
