Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay has a long history of empowering women through construction and affordable housing. Whether swinging a hammer on our construction sites, attending financial classes in preparation for homeownership, or donating funds for our programs, women have been making a difference in our community through Habitat for over 30 years.
“As a single mom, I never dreamed that I could have the security of owning a family home, and the opportunity to learn how to build it, under the direction of Habitat’s skilled construction staff and dedicated volunteers. “Sarah Speers – elementary school teacher, single mother of three and Habitat homeowner
Your support of Women Build Week 2022, will continue this long legacy of support for women and their families. More than 70 women will volunteer at our 11-home development, during the five-day event currently in progress at 2340 Harper St., (Rodeo Creek Court) in the Live Oak neighborhood of Santa Cruz. You can help build a safe and stable home for hardworking mothers like Sarah, giving them a hand up to a better future for their families. Your generosity, through volunteering, donating, or purchasing at our ReStores, allows Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay to bring awareness to the challenges and opportunities that women face in accessing affordable housing, through the activities of Women Build Week. Volunteer shifts are still available for Tues, 3-8 and Th, 3-10.
First time homeownership is too often out of reach in our community, yet so important to long-term health and success, especially for children like Sarah’s children. We are so grateful for your support of Habitat’s affordable housing construction programs, which give so many families a path to a better life. Thank you for your consideration in being a part of the solution to provide strength, stability, and self-reliance to our region.
