A dance and arts festival led by and for BIPOC/LGBTQ artists and community members
This event is private; vaccinated BIPOC 16 and up welcome to attend.
This event will be held indoors at the Motion Pacific downstairs studio. All participants will stay masked.
Level: intermediate. This means that you have some:
- Body awareness and movement vocabulary
- Experience learning choreography at a moderate to fast pace
- Experience learning quick and nuanced movement
- Floorwork experience
- Flexibility and experience with turns
- Willingness to challenge yourself
What to bring/wear–something you can move in. Here are some suggestions:
- leggings, dance shorts/briefs, tanks, leotards/bodysuits, lingerie, workout clothing
- Something you feel sexy in
- Something you feel comfortable in
- Knee pads
What to expect/prepare for:
- touching yourself
- giving face
- using breath cues
- moving with other movers
- explicit/uncensored music
- partial nudity
- getting sweaty
- being challenged to execute new movement
- being challenged and encouraged to own and express your sexuality in a deeper and fuller way
- to feel vulnerable
- to feel good

BBQueer (BLACK, BROWN, AND QUEER!) is a collaboration between three dance/art & community-centered organizations: Motion Pacific Dance (MP), Tannery World Dance and Cultural Center (TWDCC), and Gerald Casel Dance (GCD). BBQueer provides a home where the BIPOC queer community can feel seen, affirmed, included & safe; this festival is where QTBIPOC folx can share their work, celebrate their identities, & take workshops.
